Northern Salten
+++ June 19, 2024 +++
We are standing at the port of Svolvaer. The ferry to Skutvik will leave at 9:30 a.m.
The ferry crossing takes around two hours.
Noteworthy: There are no costs charged.
12:45 p.m. - the clouds are getting thicker as we arrive at Tømmerneset Camping.
We stay here for two nights, tomorrow we go on a little trip to the Northern Salten region.

09:50 - We drive about 75km west to Brennviksanden. On the way we notice nice rest areas that are not really used due to the unfavorable weather.
11:00 a.m. - We arrive at Brennviksanden. A great beach with beautiful mountains in the background.
It is raining and the clouds are hanging low. It's remarkable that this place can still show off its flair.
3:30 p.m. - We take a detour near the campsite to the Sagelva rock face. In the Stone Age, people are said to have drawn reindeer into the rock face here. Remnants are still visible today. What is particularly noteworthy here are the water cascades that were subsequently built into the rock. A mix of nature and man-made work.
There is certainly more to see here. Unfortunately the weather doesn't allow it at the moment, so we will come back again.

09:50 a.m. - Departure from Tømmerneset Camping. It's still rainy, the clouds are hanging low.
12:50 p.m. - We've already passed Fauske and stopped at Godøystraumen. Many tiny islets dot the surface of the water. Another great landscape picture.
1:15 p.m. - Two bodies of water meet at Saltstraumen. The tides create very high flow speeds here and large whirlpools become visible. The panorama is completed with the high bridge over the water.
2:30 p.m. - Short stop at Nordfjordveien. Another beautiful bridge that fits into the landscape.
3:40 p.m. - We arrive at Reipa Camping. A beautiful facility that offers us space for one night.
It's still overcast and rainy. The next morning the weather cleared up.

09:30 a.m. - As usual, our departure time. The sun smiles kindly on us.
9:40 a.m. - We drove 8km back to visit the Ureddplassen rest area. Yesterday this was not possible due to the weather. A great view rewards us. Some rest areas boast particularly interestingly designed sanitary facilities, including this one.
11:00 a.m. - 53km further south we are at Holandsfjordveien. From here there is a fantastic view over the fjord over to the Svartisen Glacier.
On our way there we were already on foot on the north side at Mo i Rana on the eastern side. We look forward to being able to look at him again on this page.
12:00 p.m. - We drove just 2km further to the Braset rest area. From here the view is even more spectacular.
We fly over with the drone and see the lake in front.
Boat traffic takes tourists to the other side.
12:45 p.m. - We arrive at Forøy ferry port to cross to Agskaret.
1:30 p.m. - The Reppaveien follows after 13km from the ferry. Another great panorama here at the Tjongsfjord. We stay for about an hour before moving on.
2:40 p.m. - The next ferry in Jektvik is almost waiting for us, we stand at the harbor for about half an hour until loading. The crossing will take 70 minutes.
5:35 p.m. - The Hellaga rest area is located on Sjona Fjord. In addition to its impressive location, the complex has been architecturally incorporated into the landscape in a remarkable way. In addition to very neat sanitary facilities, there is also the possibility of emptying the camp toilet and gray water.
The sun is still shining, we enjoy the evening here and spend the night.

7:45 a.m. - It's raining, we get up a little earlier and set off from the Hellaga rest area towards Mo i Rana and from there further east to Sweden.
10:10 am - Goodbye Norway, hello Sweden
11:30am - Arrive at our next overnight stop - Camping Tärnaby.
A small town in the mountains, snow tourism in winter, hiking area in summer.
The place is located directly on Umeälven, which entertains us with its noise.
+++ June 24, 2024 +++
9:35 a.m. - The weather has calmed down a bit. We leave Tärnaby via Bla Vägen.
Our destination is past Umea to the Mosjön rest area at the lake of the same name. We arrive around 6:00 p.m. after around 380km and spend the night here.

8:45 a.m. - We leave a little earlier, our first destination is Örnsköldsvik. We want to go to the Naturkompaniet outlet center.
Before that, a short walk at the nearby park. We continue our journey at 11:20 a.m.
12:20 p.m. - Break at the Hornöberget rest area. We look at the Högakusten Bridge, Sweden's largest suspension cable bridge. The rest area is well attended.
4:45 p.m. - The temperatures rise to 31°C when we reach our next overnight stop: Ange Camping.
The facility impresses us. Somewhat outdated buildings that have been lovingly and artistically decorated in a very appealing way. Pure relaxation right on the adjacent lake, including a beautiful art museum.
+++ June 26, 2024 +++
9:00 a.m. - We actually leave a little earlier again.
11:05 a.m. - We arrive in Sveg. The world's largest wooden bear is already waiting for us...
12:50 p.m. - We arrive at Särna Camping, our next overnight stop. The complex is located directly on the lake and boasts a particularly well-rated restaurant. We can confirm this for our part. The late evening sunset towards the north-west is a fantastic sight.
2:40 p.m. - We are at Njupeskär waterfall in Fulufjället National Park. We were impressed by a beautiful walk along some wooden walkways up to the waterfall. The waterfall towers in front of us in a magnificent gorge. You must have seen that...

9:00 a.m. - We set off a little earlier again because there are around 450km on the stage today.
The destination is the southern end of Lake Vänern.
4:35 p.m. - We reach Hunnebergs Camping near Vänersborg and set up here for the night.
Not far from here we find the Skäktefallet, a nice waterfall at the end of our trip.
But behind the campsite with the building that has been shaped by many generations, we also find another small watercourse, the Byklevsfallet.
Our journey now comes to an end here. The next morning we go to visit friends and then head home.
This is where the Nordic summer paradise blog ends.
